Britpop vets The Stone Roses are back together and playing their first NYC show in 21 years this June 30 at Madison Square Garden. Tickets went on sale today.
Here's the band lip-synching live on Top of the Pops in 1990 with "Fools Gold."

One of my favorite bands. I am afraid to go, afraid its gonna suck. they did a coachella festival and it sounded awful.
I'm with you 5:09... I saw Ian Brown at Webster Hall in 2005. He was pretty sloppy. He stopped She Bangs the Drums several times, and he was yelling at the sounds guys throughout the show (as I recall).
6:49: Was at that show too. Everything you said was true. There was a tension through the whole show like "Is this actually going to happen?" It was unpleasant. Apparently British audiences like that kind of thing, or at least they did during the heyday of the Madchester/Brit-Pop days.

One of my fave songs!
Hilarious lipsync! I'm just gonna hold the mic WAY above my head & keep 'singing' (or sometimes not.).

This piece from the Guardian hits the nail squarely on the head, while still leaving hope the MSG show won't be a complete cock-up.

Ian thinks he is the resurrection of the Stone Roses but he really is just a fool's gold. Basically, he still just wanna be adored.
