Reader report: Water main break on 7th Street

An EVG reader shared this from late this afternoon... when workers from Express Plumbing Sewer & Water Main Corp. were working outside 111 E. Seventh St. between Avenue A and First Avenue "going crazy. Cowboy style."

Per reader Andrew Bushong:

They dug two giant holes in the sidewalk and street. Around 5 p.m. they broke a main. City was called and now they're "supervising" the same plumbers while eating cupcakes. I'm a bit pissed as they've turned off water for the block on the eve of a blizzard.

And this has caused seceral businessed to close early, including Desnuda and...

I was walking my dog at around 4:30pm and it looked like these plumbers were too busy catcalling passersby...

Yea the contractors that get these gigs just hire who's ever available that day no matter if they have any experience/knowledge and then they hire the even more unaware to repave often to disastrous effect ( many of the sink holes in the area are due to badly improperly fill repair holes) but until they can get to it they cover these holes up often leaving metal plates for months and months which glang loudly with every car truck buss as they have on St Marks and Second and Second Ave from 10th to 9th street

I digress hope everyone get their water on swiftly and the holes are repaired correctly

Yes, don't drink the dirty water, for starters. Dear god, I hope I got to you in time.
