Mimi Cheng's Dumplings coming soon to the former Viva Herbal Pizzeria on 2nd Avenue

Viva Herbal Pizzeria, the gluten-free, vegan pizza joint at 179 Second Ave. near East 12th Street, closed at the beginning at the year.

These photos via Blue Glass show what's coming next: Mimi Cheng's dumplings …

It's great they are sustainable, but I only eat hydroponic dumplings.

Let's replace all the fro-yo shops with dumplings. I love a good dumpling!

"sustainable" oh shut the fuck up

BagelGuy, that Plump Dumpling is so in name only. I would not label that a dumpling place proper. Rather it is more like generic Chinese delivery swill. Or is Vietnamese now. Whatever. That is the place that tried to prop up Yummy House's corpse and insist it was still alive. Fool me once, fool me, you can't get fooled again, like George W Bush once said. So they are on my personal shit list and as such I support these would-be dumpling usurpers.

Okay, dumplings, and agree that PD/ex-YH isn't what it used to be, but gees...

I so miss Viva's pizza choices. Any other places to take away cornmeal crust or vegan slices... suggestions welcomed...

I only eat dumplings below Houston Street, in Flushing or in China. Also, the unsustainable ones taste better.

@NOTORIOUS I prefer free-range dumplings myself.

Finally, a dumpling not made of mystery meat!

What are they sustaining, their tochas?

cornmeal crust at two boots

WTF is a "sustainable" dumpling? Does that mean it goes on forever?

Sigh. Was really hoping for another pizza place. Gotta keep hoofing it to 14th st. for now. At least it's not more fro-yo.

Another vote for Two Boots; and they now have gluten-free crust as well.

Now we're in the burgeoning dumpling district, with Plump Dumpling across 2nd Ave. I hope Maggie doesn't overcharge as consistently as Plump Dumpling (I stopped going to Plump Dumpling when arguing about the inflated tax ceased to be funny).
