Just a reminder that Lafayette and a good part of Park Avenue will be closed for you to bike, walk, run, skate, crawl, [________] in a hoof to your heart's content today. At least until 1 p.m., when the wheeled motor vehicles used for transporting passengers and other things return.

Last week there were far fewer bikes due to the rain, especially CitiBikes which were much smaller percentage wise than last years rides. It turns out that fewer than half the original annual CitiBike subscribers have renewed their memberships this year, and even with new signups the total number of CitiBike memberships is quickly declining. Which means the program is probably losing more money than ever. But don't worry, a big real estate company is coming in to rescue the program, or at least to slap their own logo on the bikes #TooBigToFail
Maybe these people are buying their own bikes, or maybe they just gave up on it due to all the system glitches. Either way the program is now losing riders, which won't help it get the much needed expansion uptown and in the other boroughs. They were supposed to expand the program this year. Now it looks like that won't happen until at least 2016 or 2017. If ever. #NoCitiBikesForYou
The CityStreets event would have been a good way to get new member signups, especially with the annual rate reportedly going up to $155/year, so this might be the last chance to get that bargain basement $95 annual deal. Or maybe it's just time for people to buy their own bike today and get out to enjoy another nice ride up Lafayette to Park Avenue and Central Park.
