Have they tried downloading and installing the uninstall support tool?

Updated 8/24: This location reopened today, Saturday.

From the tipline today... reports that the Starbucks on Avenue A at St. Mark's Place is TEMPORARILY closed. (Word is a problem with the AC.)

On the door is the familiar sign that has greeted potential patrons previously this summer: "Something went wrong..."

EVG reader Simon Dumenco has a theory about this now-familiar existential note in the window. "Maybe it’s a feature, not a bug? Starbucks is just trying to tell its resident laptop jockeys to take a break and get some fresh air and sunshine now and then?"

Thanks to Steven for these photos!

What happened, did they run out of coffee? Who knew that Starbucks on Avenue A would have hours that are almost as erratic as Empire Biscuit?

This is bullshit. They either have faulty central air conditioning or their computers are down. Perhaps the company is too cheap to make the necessary repairs. I was really hoping to visit today as it was very humid. I certainly didn't feel like making the trek to Astor. Once summer passes, I wonder if these random closures will become an ongoing issue.

or maybe to it’s patrons... maybe try actual espresso drinks that aren’t laden with caramel, vanilla, mocha and just have a perfectly expressed coffee beverage at a locally owned business nearby, some suggestions?

C&B Cafe
9th Street Espresso
Mud
to name just some of the best

I looked into working here because you can apply to specific locations and I wanted to stay in the neighborhood. I feel bad for the employees. They were all so nice and I enjoyed the culture they created.

I am confused. I thought it was just a temporary closure. Now, there seems to be the idea that this location is permanently closed. Is this really the truth or just a rumor?

I am somewhat surprised by all the pro-Starbucks comments here. There are a TON of other places which provided better coffee, wife and AC which are not part of a huge corporation which is considered a spearhead to gentrification.

Go to Third Rail on 2nd and 10th. AC, amazing coffee, great atmosphere, and puppy friendly.

I have a friend who works there. She says the store is NOT closing. It's an issue with the air conditioning. Stop spreading rumors they are closed. Please.

@10:23am: The gentrification train left the station well over a decade ago. Starbucks isn't "spearheading" anything.

Oh please just close the place! Who cares! Seriously great coffee all around the neighborhood!

Calm down everyone. Breathe. Starbuck's isn't the enemy here.

Indeed something went wrong for chain stores to be on the rise on Avenue A.

It's fascinating to me that people go to that place with all of the local coffee on every block!
And yes anyone that sits there all day and thinks it's their office is annoying and nobody else has a place to sit because of you animals!

I passed it again today. Closed since Monday. It doesn't look good. i heard from someone at Astor this place is finished. Not enough revenue. Too many hipsters charging their computers and using Wifi for free. I am not surprised. Maybe they can make this block a pizza market again.
