Street fair! Street fair! Street fair!

Woo! Sausage on a stick! Fried calamari! Heartburn! Recurring gastroenteritis! (Oh, kidding.)

But there is a street fair going on right now on Astor Place up to Broadway, per Bill the Libertarian Anarchist.

First one of the season!

Previously on EV Grieve:
Street fair! Street fair! Street fair!

Street fair! Street fair! Street fair!

Street fair! Street fair! Street fair!

Street Fairs are a real nuisance and are all the same with the same crappy vendors selling their garbage and closing up the streets and causing inconvenience.

Certain ones in the EV avoid that...ccan you enlighten us, Grieve?
I remember a fair near the Theatre for the New City that rocked- literally....

Probably you refer to the E 9th St block party, bet 1st and A, taking place mid-september. Always with live music, run nearly exclusively by residents and businesses from the block, with art, stoop sales, and such. Local businesses contribute to the raffle and so on.
there are other nice block parties like the one on E 10th bet 2nd & 3rd Aves or the one on E 9th between Aves B & C.

Altho I loathe most of these street fairs at least this one is not blocking a major avenue or street.
Most of them are by ClearViewFestival.com ... check the dates if you need to take a bus on a weekend where one of these monsters block 2nd or 3rd Aves.

Who care? Who care? Who care?

Not me, unless it's one of the local ones like the 9th street shindig mentioned above. I want to what amateur people are selling (i.e. stuff they don't want, shit they make in their free time, some clothing from their closet), and not funnel-cakes and 12 pairs of sunglasses for $1...

Seriously, how do these things even get permits? They sell the same stuff and a lot of knock off stuff, and a lot of gross food from the same food trucks they had around in the 80's. They're really not fun at all.
