Party progress at Icon Realty's 205 Avenue A

Icon Realty's 205 Avenue A has a bit of a reputation for its rooftop ragers, which in the past attracted the attention of the neighbors, the police and the media. (Brokers did once dub this an "East Village frat house" in a listing.)

Haven't heard too much from the address this past summer ... until an EVG reader who lives nearby noted that there was a sizable party with maybe 100 guests between the rooftop and backyard area on Friday evening.

Per the reader:

Most interestingly was what was going on in the backyard. There was a DJ, and lots of lights, but the noise was minimal. It took me a minute to piece it together, but all of the lights were coming from headphones that everyone was wearing — they literally set up a silent disco in their backyard.

I don't really want to pan these guys cause it's definitely progress from last year and I guess I appreciate them coming up with a creative way to keep the noise down (even if the thought process almost certainly was more about not having the cops called than thinking about their neighbors).

My E12 St back apartment looks out on this scene. Despite the lack of amplified music, the crowd noise was substantial until around 1, lots of hooting and hollering and singalongs...I called 311 to file a noise complaint and encourage my neighbors to do the same.

I can always manage to sleep through music because it has rhythm and is like a "loud" white noise. However the other "white noise" of screaming frat boys and sorority girls is nothing by spikes of noise, the kind that can make you sit up in bed from a sound sleep. Keep the complaints coming with 311. I do this is every Friday nights against my neighbors at 533 E. 12th street and their out door space. There is an app which makes it even easier, so no more excuses, complain where it counts.

Shouting and yelling went on from 9:30 until 2:30 on the 11th. They sang happy birthday to someone at midnight. Though most music was through headphones in the backyard we could still hear bass thumping from inside the apartment that leads to the backyard. And yes, another party was going on up on the roof at the same time. Calls were made to 311, but the din never subsided. Backyard has had more and louder parties than the roof this year, 6 so far. 205 Ave still remains a party building with dorm-like apartments on top floor. Icon has done nothing in response to complaints. Hard to get police response as well though we continue to work with the 9th Precinct. To anyone else having noise issues with the parties at 205 Ave A please contact us at: northavea@gmail.com.

If you're having noise problems with backyard or rooftop parties please attend the community meetings at the 9th Precinct and voice your concerns. They happen the third Tuesday of every month and the police do take note when people make the time to show up. The next meeting is tomorrow night at 7pm- 321 E 5th.

One more bit of entitlement for an already too entitled crowd, make as much noise as you want cause daddy's paying the rent and has lawyers too, woo!

It's called quiet clubbing, they rent you the headphones and you canlisted to 3 different DJs: http://quietevents.com

Now they just have to teach everyone sign language since people tend to yell when they are wearing headphones.

What if they were listening to punk rock and screaming fuck the police? Still gonna complain? Me thinks not....

I've heard of a creative way to deal with this problem: FERMENTED PISS BOMBS.

I hear it works wonders....

Don't know if they did it to be more quiet or not, but this type of "event" is the trendy thing right now. It's been in several european clubs and on tv news programs.
