The V-Spot, with a location in Park Slope, offers Latin vegan cuisine. Here's a description via their website:
For people who eat vegan or kosher, or both, it's not always easy to enjoy tasty Latin dishes, but a one-of-it's-kind restaurant in Park Slope is changing that. The V Spot is a vegan restaurant specializing in Latin cuisine that is Kosher certified under IKC Kosher. We serve delicious meatless and dairy-free dishes that use traditional Latin seasonings, like adobo & sazon made from scratch. Instead of meat, we use our homemade seitan, which is wheat-based, full of protein but doesn't contain any carbohydrates. Our menu is full of flavor, cholesterol-free & no animals were harmed in the making of your dish.
We also offer gluten-free options such as Kale Tostadas or our Quinoa Curried Kale. If you have a sweet tooth you can try one of our soy milkshakes, fresh vegetable juice, fruit smoothies & vegan desserts. Our empanadas are famous through out New York City & also available via FreshDirect's online delivery system. The address here between Second Avenue and Third Avenue was previously home to Hanjoo, which closed in February after nearly three years. No. 12 has also been home to a number of bars-restaurants in recent years, including Hirai Mong, Gama, San Marcos, Siren and @Cafe.

I've heard of V-Spot but thought it was just really hard to find. My wife says it's a myth.
So I guess this means that St Mark's Place will become a euphemism. And a show. Maybe "the St Mark's Monologues."
So I see I am not the only one who thinks this name is more than a little questionable. Whew!
That spot will always be the Deutschen-Amerikanischen Schutzen Gesellschaft to me.
I hope they do well. But if one pays attention to food trends, fake meat vegan places are closing in this area left and right. Even an old classic like Angelica's is struggling. Pukk on first ave, anothrr old favorite, recently went out of business. Same for Dirt Candy...
Vegan is now extremely marginal and no longer a trend. At the very least, places need to cater to both vegan/vegetarians, and people who grew up on that, but who outgrew ita and want that but also want other ligt non vegan options on the menu
Nice idea ruined by a stupid name. I will go because good vegan food is hard to find and it's a rare and interesting thing to see if someone does it well. However, they should consider Lunasa's warning and fix the name before it's too late.
What's questionable about The Vagina Spot? I heard they have a bottomless brunch!
All this talk about the name V-Spot is ridiculous. This is a well-established, much-loved restaurant in the vegan community. This restaurant also supplies vegan empanadas to restaurants, bars, and coffee shops wishing to provide vegan food items all over NYC. There's no danger of the restaurant not catching on or suffering in any way from its name.

Dirt Candy didn't go out of business.... They moved to an even larger space because business was so good. Don't spew factually incorrect information about popular restaurants.

You mean they should have meat as well as vegan food on the menu? Hasn't that already been done?
Since you apparently don't know, the V-spot has a pretty solid following in the vegan community, and their vegan empanadas can be found at a lot of bars/restaurants/food stores (like Healthfully, and I believe Commodities in our neighborhood.)

I kind of wish that "chicken" restaurant opened instead... Was looking forward to those chicken blood cocktails!

8:18 Nice try with your anti-vegan propaganda - vegan is exploding in popularity due to Health, Environmental and Animal Welfare concerns. Pukk was packed almost all of the time - just condensed with parent company (Spice (non-veg) closed huge 4th ave spot) Dirt Candy was SO popular that they moved to a larger space on Allen. When John's added vegan menu the owners have commented that around 30% of the business (at a mainly non-vegan rest.) is now from the vegan menu... The list goes on...and on...
My impression is that veganism (and vegetarianism) is on the increase. Statistics, anyone?

Listen, I've been the V-Spot in Brooklyn and I thought the food was great (well, "great" is a strong word but I'd eat there again). But that doesn't diminish the fact tht veganism is a stupid diet for stupid people who are stupid. I don't care how many hipper-than-thou rubenites are lining up at the trough. It's unnatural. And I should like to point out the the Brahmins of India kept tabs on their slave population for millenia holding them to a strict, meatless diet. And for what it's worth, plants don't exactly care for being eaten either, imagine that!
