These WANTED FOR PETIT LARCENY flyers are along First Avenue (and likely elsewhere...) as the NYPD searches for a suspect accused of stealing a flower pot from outside 44 St. Mark's Place this past May.
The posters look legit... so, what do you suppose was inside that flower pot?
Thanks to EVG reader Lori Kohn for the photo!

Must be a very important person's flower pot. Get the choppers out! Let the manhunt begin!
Doesn't seem legit to me. Flyer #? The name of a detective to contact for a stolen flowerpot? Why would the police us there's probable cause to arrest? What is Detective Borough? Shouldn't that be Detective Bureau? Nice try.
The great flowerpot caper of 2016!
There IS a Detective Borough Manhattan. The flyer is also similar to other "Wanted"' posters (including the telephone number)...though the search for similar flyer images was upon a quick Google so whatever that's worth...
Something seems off. Why would someone risk their liberty for a flowerpot? What a loser.
I know the people who had these pot(s) stolen. Apparently this guy came back each night (caught on the same camera) for another, finally ended up with all the ones that he could carry alone. One huge too-heavy pot remains. Figuring he's a neighbor bc he returned over several nights and the pot he carried in each case is very heavy and ornamental.
True these things are funny till it's your ox that's gored!
Some drunken asswipes tip over the massive flower pots in front of our building, or pull the plants out of them, once a month or so. After a while, this kills the boxwoods and plants, which cost a few hundred dollars to replace. This is not some petty crime. We are getting cameras installed next week. You will be seeing more public shaming like this in the near future, whether or not this is legit.
Must be a misprint. I'm sure what was stolen was something much more valuable...not a flower pot, but a Pot Flower.
Pot head.
I do not believe the NYPD would actively seek to bring a thief of a flower pot (or any kind of petit thief for that matter) to justice. Just to be clear we are talking NEW YORK police department right? I just cannot. I am sorry but this story beggars belief. NYPD do not expend time and energy over a petit larceny. That is not the NYPD I know.
On second thought it makes perfect sense. What better way to waste a bunch of work hours.
The guy looks like Art Garfunkel's grandson with that Jew-fro. They will probably find him standing on a bridge over trouble waters.
Flowers?
when i was arrested on a sat night a couple years ago (open container on my friends stoop), i was taken to a holding cell at the 9th pct and spent the night there. i was the only person the entire night. it was dead. the cops were very bored. so yeah, i believe they're going to all this trouble over a flower pot.
I just can't make sense of why some crimes get coverage and others don't. Some dog goes missing two years ago, and it was like the summer of Sam. There are still posters around. Yet around the same time, a Chinese kid went missing from Chinatown and nobody cared.
Those "Find Sugar" posters were everywhere. What ever happened to the dog walker who "lost" Sugar the pitbull? I think the dog's owner was going after him in court, but there was never any explanation as to what really happened to the dog that everyone in the East Village was looking for.
its NYC, don't leave stuff around you don't want people to take OR move to the suburbs and STFU
are you f_ing kidding me? You "know" the people (or you are the person) whose flower pots got stolen-- some poor slob came back night after night to take your collection of flower pots and it never occurred to you to LOCK YOUR DAMN PROPERTY AWAY, and now you're conducting a manhunt to find him?
get over yourself. if anyone wants your flower pots that badly you should take it as a compliment.
