Bali Kitchen bringing Indonesian cuisine to 4th Street

The coming soon sign is up for Bali Kitchen, which will serve Indonesian cuisine here at 128 E. Fourth St. between First Avenue and Second Avenue...

The space, which shares an address with Lui's Thai Food, was last home to the Fantastic Tea Shop for less than a year.

Yowzah! So after years of missing the old Indonesian joint Borobudur, which was located in this storefront, we now get another (extremely rare in NYC) Javanese joint in it. Now that is great news indeed. Yum yum yum!

I still miss Pinisi Bakery from this location years ago...

I hope I wont have to wait three hours for my food to be served table side like Uncle Lui's does.

Borobudor and Pinisi were both great additions to the neighborhood.

Hi everyone! I sent this article to the owner of Bali Kitchen! His name is Jazz. He is excited to be in EV. The restaurant will open in the end of July so can't wait to serve you guys!

Ano 8:06 -- it will be a take out concept so you won't have to wait that long lol

Ooh, I love Indonesian food! Welcome to the nabe, Jazz!

(The tea place served delicious tea but it was expensive, and I found the vibe kinda weird. It wasn't a pleasant place to spend time.)

Pinisi made me and my husband the hit of many dinner parties. Bust open a box filled with slices of three different cakes and people went crazy. And the people who worked there were very nice to us.

Oh, Javanese food (like Borobudur) is much better than Balinese food, but I'll be happy to check them out. Maybe the name is just to attract tourists, or to let them open during Ramadan without seeming weird.
