'Sesame Street' and Chrysler team up in Tompkins Square Park
Crews were in Tompkins Square Park today to film a Chrysler commercial featuring characters from "Sesame Street" ... and it looked like the whole squad was on hand...

Derek Berg shared these photos...
Despite being filmed in the middle of a public park with iconic TV characters on a beautiful June day, we heard that crew members didn't always appreciate people taking photos...
Steven shared this photo of Count von Count in the passenger side...
... and more shots of the characters via Christopher J. Ryan...
The filming apparently will continue tomorrow.

As someone raised on Sesame Street as I am sure everyone else has, Big Bird, Bert And Ernie, The Cookie Monster, Grover and the rest have sold their muppet souls. This is a profound disappointment. As if showing their new episodes first on pay cable wasn't bad enough.
And to do this in a public park too (De Faustio strikes again with another rubber stamped monopolization of public space) and refusing to let civilians, who pay for it's upkeep, take photos is an abomination and borderline fascist.
This is the society we live in now. It's all about the money.

If anyone thinks Seseme Street just sold their souls for the first time in Tompkins Square, check out their partners and major funders.
Hi ho! Makeout theeee frog here. Shameful. Hi ho!
I wonder if Christo and Dora will have cameos?
All the more reason to support Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood.
This is shocking! Shocking! Fascism! Monopolization! Gentrification! Public Space! Capitalism!
Wanna take down the righteous indignation quotient just a fuckin' tad maybe? It's always been this way, junior. If you're just waking up to that fact, just wait till you wake up a little bit more and realize that you're just looking in the mirror disgusted with your own reflection. Hahahahaha.
Worst Film Crew Ever!!! They were all complete a holes this morning at the park. They completely took over the area and every spot in the shade, then redirected people completely instead of just doing it during the actual filming. No reason they need that much public space monopolized for 2 days a 20 second commercial. Also your PAs were total dicks to me when I was walking my dogs on the perimeter they 'established' and not only got told not to let my dogs pee on the curb on Ave B, but the comment that I looked like I was homeless. Im treated with more respect by the homeless in that park than the unfortunate 15 minutes of my life lost to walking through my park, oh I mean overly produced set. SVU and Netflix, come film any time!
Well, I'll tell you one guy that has NOT sold his muppet soul is Oscar the Grouch! He was nowhere to be seen, I heard he boycotted the commercial shoot in favor of donating his time to Meals on Wheels.
Who's Park Our Park?. Seems like usual the Locals are put out once again
Why do film/tv crews gotta act like they are curing cancer or some really important shit.
I just cut straight through there and nobody said a peep. Most of the PAs are probably passed out from heat stroke. Someone picked a bad day to play Elmo in the park.
The puppeteers are nice at least. In between takes they went out and talked to kids who were fainting with joy at this. Or utterly terrified.
The Avenue A playground in TSP is already featured in the title sequence of Sesame Street, so it makes sense that they'd film there.
Big Birrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrd!:) <3!
That link to the list of sponsors was interesting to say the least. The "Saudi Arabia Traffic Police"?
Grover is so underrated.
When oh when is someone gonna make a Sesame Street-Muppets movie?
10 pm
Muppets take Manhattan.
