An EVG reader writes in about about this minivan that has been parked on 12th Street just west of Avenue A.
It has been accumulating parking tickets. I don't see any plates on it, and there is a bunch of junk in the back, and a box for a space heater on the front seat. You would think it would get towed after so many tickets. Maybe someone knows the deal? Could it belong to someone working on Steiner East Village?

That looks like a Tony Alamo tract under the wiper blade.
That is the new parking thing - park where you want, take off the plates, get a bunch of tickets on your plateless vehicle. There are no plates, so who cares?
Call 311 and report it to Sanitation, they'll take it away.
You think in this day and age this would have the makings of a major Security Risk Heads should roll about this
A suburban parent has run away from their family and the PTA meetings to re-live their youth in the EV.
If this plateless van was abandoned in a touristy part of the city, it would have been checked out and towed. But it's left in the East Village, and nothing happens.
Without plates, I thought it would be towed immediately...

That's good. You should be writing plots for Law & Order.
I wonder if it belongs to one of the Steiner security people or the construction company. I noticed some of the construction guys leaning on it and hanging out around it. If that's the deal, that explains why it hasn't been towed. Isn't it illegal to have a vehicle with no plates on it?
Maybe it is from New Jersey should check Crusty Row for the owner
