Inflatable union rat makes Webster Hall appearance

The inflatable union rat is out this morning on the corner of Third Avenue and 11th Street... where reps for Local One — the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (I.A.T.S.E) — are handing out flyers about the non-union work happening at Webster Hall, which reopens Friday (not Saturday per their flyers) with Jay-Z.

EVG reader Emily shared these photos...

AEG Presents and Brooklyn Sports and Entertainment are the new operators of Webster Hall.

Just what we need, more protesting over nothing in East Village. That corner is always pretty busy, having all the commotion on the corner will not help and will definitely be annoying for Westside Market I am sure...

Jon so mad that he had to take 13 seconds out of his day so that people could try to help raise the pay and benefits for working people in the East Village.

Jon, please pick up a history book and read about the importance of unions and how it help established what was once called the middle class in America. Living wages were hard fought in industries from as diverse as actors, factory workers, school teachers, etc... It was the constant attack on unions led by "trickle down" Reganites and Libertarians which have brought us to this era of Trump.

Jon @11:36am - Congrats! Your comment is an all-time winner, managing in so few words to encapsulate and personify the self-centered, braindead, mediocre presence invading our beloved, enlightened, creative and involved community.
