Destination Bar has closed on Avenue A, will reopen as Destination Bar

The bar on the northwest corner of A and 13th Street closed for good after service yesterday.

But this closure won't be for long — at last as far as the name goes.

Back in October, CB3 OK'd the sale of assets to the current owners of Local 138 and Iggy's Keltic Lounge on Ludlow Street.

According to minutes (PDF!) from the October CB3 full-board meeting, the new owners are retaining the Destination Bar name.

No word yet on a Grand Reopening.

Destination Bar opened in the summer of 2009 in the former Boysroom space.

Too bad. Is was one of the few bars that wasn't maxed out with bros and could hear yourself talk.

Let me predict the future... Front will be changed to large glass doors which will be open during the summer months and loud music and louder drunk 20 somethings will be yelling Oh my god and AWESOME!. 6 tv's will be showing various professional sports games and the bar will scream when any of the teams score. Can't wait.

Yeah, as someone who lives above this place I've got to say, they were good neighbors. I mean, it wasn't Boysroom (there can never be too much Michael Formika in one's life), but Destination people were nice, and their patrons were regular folks. And the bar was puppy-friendly! Anyway, that's more than I can say about the snoots at Drop-Off Service. I'm just waiting for a buyout, honestly.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

I'm friends with some of the folks opening the new Destination Bar, and I can assure you the guys I know hate bros and pretty much anything involving sports. I know they're planning to upgrade the kitchen. I'm not sure what other changes they're planning to make. I'm excited to see what they come up with.

Remember when this place was Oggi? I wish it would turn back into a restaurant.

Destiantion Bar was the destination for the D-list social media celebrities -- the Fameballers and Webutantes, the tumblrettes and Gawkerettes, who think that they are all that. Yeah, it wasn't maxed out with bros, but it was maxed out with bores. Look at me, listen to me, tweet about me, blog about me, *like* me, fave me, it's all about me!

I liked Oggi's.It was the best place to be invisible in plain sight. And when Mason went to the garden on 13th to meet the community before he opened Destination ,it was the closest ive ever been to knowing who the Griever is!(he and Jeremiah were both there!)

The guy who is taking this over promised CB 3 he would upgrade the food, do delivery and be a more local joint. Destination had cheap liquor.

"Haters gonna hate" is when delusional "celebrities" know they've lost an argument, then they go to that. I’m awesome” is the mindset a lot of these people have. It’s very clear you are being hated on for being an idiot. But hey, no worries, Sweet and Vicious is still around to lure that young Canadian tumblrette by an over-the hill middle-aged tumblrer with promises of the spotlight, i.e the self-congratulatory and masturbatory Obliterati.

C'mon, it hasn't been a 'scene' bar for ages now. For awhile I was hooked on their triangular grilled cheese mini-sandwiches. And the window seats were a good spot to drink'n'read. Looking forward to the new incarnation.
