Hummus Place closed for renovations on St. Mark's Place

The chickpea specialists at 109 St. Mark's Place between Avenue A and First Avenue closed yesterday ... the sign on the door notes they are closing for renovations...

There isn't any mention of a temporary closure on their website or social media properties. A call to the restaurant yields a "voice mailbox full" message.

Hummus Place expanded into the adjacent storefront back in April 2009.

I like this place, I enjoy it's late 70's Cambridge MA interior as much as the food.
I hope it is not closing permanently.

I love this place - serves good affordable food with no fuss, no dance music. I eat there or get takeout at least once a week. We need more places like this and less of the fancy stuff or booze-filled spots masquerading as restaurants

Someday a place in the EV that closes for 'renovations' will really be closed for renovations and actually reopen.. but I don't think it's going to be this place.

In other words, "Closed Fpr Lease Negotiations"

The good news is that the De Robertis space is being taken over by Black Seed bagels, who will preserve the interior and have other baked goods too. So glad to see someone finally coming in and preserving a bit of our history.

Yep, not buying it. They just renovated about 2 years ago. Changed up the menu somewhat recently. Very solid food. Would be sad if this is it.

I called the UWS location and they said they thought this one might be closed for good.
