Crusty Yoga for the people
Man! What's in those dollar slices?
It astounds me that people find this cool.
Even the Crusties are into the whole group yoga in public trend.
Did she take his yoga mat
I blame President Trump!
Decent use of juxtaposition. Subject is somewhat hackneyed. B+
Why is this tolerated/ considered acceptable? Why does the NYPD ignore this?
1:58 PM: My guess is police headquarters thinks this is payback to de blasio or others they detest.
this is too perfect. at least those ladies didn't try to ignore it. That pic just crystallizes De Faustio's impact on this city. Or non-impact.as the tale of two cities continues...some heading to hot yoga, some lying face first on the pavementI'm staying away from that 2 bros shit.
I guess the al fresco crusty yoga class ain't good enough for those dames.
TRULY SAD! this is becoming an epidemic! As shiny and new this EV is becoming this is the REALITY! So awful!
They will all leave when it's cold anyway. It's no different than last year but for the K2 being around which makes it seem crazier. Which it is I guess due to K2.
DeBlasio... Worst Mayor NYC history.
Everybody calm down. The 3 Crusties are obviously taking a break lying down while they wait for Mamoun's to open. Nothing like that first batch of deep fried chick peas to get your motor going in the morning.
Cronut lines are exhausting!
Today, honor your body and your mind. However you're feeling and whatever you're thinking is exactly as it should be. Always remember: you're absolutely perfect just the way you are. Namaste!
Disgusting. Glad I don't live on St Mark's Place anymore.
Looks like a good batch of Wagon Wheel is back on the scene
A true EV scene. Yes Del Blase is the worst. Yes this is sad. But...it was, is and always will be the EV. Once these kids stop hanging out in the EV the edge will go with them. Nobody seems to remember the 60's or early 70's. It was the same back then. Besides...what's wrong with it? These kids are where they want to be. They hang together, eat together, sleep together, have fun together. They are not quite as poor as they might have you believe. They all have cell phones. None of these kids has ever died of starvation in the EV. They don't bother anyone. In fact, some of these kids are really nice kids....although their hygiene is plain old disgusting. So let's be kind people. These kids, who you belittle by calling them crusties are possibly your family's friends kids having the city adventure of living on the street for a year or two.....or some of them...just the summer.
So scenes like this repulse hipster dip shits and monied transients who have been ruining the Lower East Side for the rest of us?WHO THE FUCK invited them to come "slumming" down here and then buy their way into our neighborhood, causing rents to rise, driving out residents and businesses, imposing their mindless consumer corporate culture upon us??By virtue of their ability to pay astronomical amounts for living space here, these fucking parasites have the ARROGANCE to believe they can demand the removal of that which preceded them here!!If they don't like seeing others less fortunate and monied than they are, they can just get the fuck OUTTA here!!They should be living with their own kind anyway....
Crusties are not nice to people who live here... They are now hanging out in packs and aggressively asking for money... They have pitt bulls and pass out with them unsupervised... Their dogs have attacked other dogs and also people... They have bullied and stabbed the local homeless Fuck them! Vote for someone who will show these transient wann
Nope, don't miss living on that block one single bit. (and i'm not a hipster, don't have a trust fund and in fact, i barely get by)
Been living here since the 90s... These crusty fuckers are the transients... They are aggressive, hang out in packs and have pitt bulls which are not on lease when they pass out... fuck em
I do think it's unfortunate people here are making fun of this. And I understand the comments of the folk who live here. But I'm wondering, is it true that the "crusty-punks" are all upper class youth doing this because they can? Are there ever really any truly poor youth moving from small town america to do this? Like young people whose parents didn't go to college and don't need to rebel against their privilege? When I'm in this area and see these folks, I try to look up close. It's not perfect but I often wonder if the youth are from privileged backgrounds. What's in it for them? Every once in a while I do think I hear or read about someone truly coming from poverty and trying to survive outside of the 'system' because they truly have no other place to go.
I don't think most crusties do come from privileged backgrounds. It's a pretty shitty way to live. You don't usually get from Westchester to sitting around in your own filth or sprawling out on a hot pavement like an animal except via alcohol or (in particular) IV drugs. Probably coming from more resources than your average barefoot-Penn-Station-sleeping older man, but in worse shape than people would have believe. Since those dogs would run a serious risk of being put down if they were at the ACC, it's hard to begrudge them the company.
What Ever happened to the Beat Cop years ago a loud tap of his stick on the cans got them moved
It's funny that some are saying this is so sad - we didn't need the EV to be "shiny and new" - it was AWESOME before, crusties and all... They ARE doing what they want - they travel all over the country like this. The "shiny and new" Astor Place is disgusting, sad and soulless - truly midtown south, so enough already.
Where are the animal rights people?
Chris Flash I'm with you. The EV was far better off without the brainless baby carriage transplants that should go back to the corn fields where they came from. Crusties and street people alike represent 'real life' in the EV, a place fit for all walks of life which is why I live here to begin with, And as far as Animal Rights People - most Crusties pride themselves with taking care of their dogs that are generally well behaved. For every Crustie a bus load of ARROGANT Corporate Culture Hipsters with their baby carriage values should be banned from our neighborhood!
whoa dude.. you're so legit man.. you sleep out on the street on St.Marks Place.. that's like so edgy bro. Did you piss on the sidewalk too? soooo gnarly man, you're sure stickin it to the man! yea right.. hanging out yelling and screaming trying desperately to get a reaction from people living in a gentrified neighborhood.. what's the point man.. that shit aint punk rock, St Marks is a mall now.. if you wanna be a real street head go claim a squat somewhere.. but stop acting out your "mommy and daddy didn't show me enough attention" issues on a block where the rents are 3k a month.
