Former St. Mark's Bookshop for lease

Signs went up yesterday at 31 Third Ave. We didn't spot the listing online just yet.

Before moving this past summer to a new storefront on East Third Street, St. Mark's Bookshop had been paying $23,500 a month, according to the Times. (The store's new rent is $6,000.)

Anyway, took a little longer for the "for lease" signs to arrive here. Workers gutted the space back in early July.

The lack of rent signage made it seem as if a new bank branch tenant was already in place for the space.

I was thinking of renting this space and starting a badly run business with arrogant sales people which ignore their customers. In a short time I will then start a campaign asking stranger give me money to keep my culturally important business alive. Does anyone what to be my backer?

Shudder to think what will be moving in here since it's an especially high profile spot at the gateway to the EV. At this point it's almost guaranteed to be some kind of boring ass corporate outpost.

Anon 9:57 -- remember also to carry lots of obscure items, and not what people actually want! Be sure also to not even have heard of bestselling titles.

Anon 11:40,
Of course what you said is part of the business plan, I am open to sure fail ideas especially as long as I can get the hood to rally behind me until I leave this spot of a city subsidize space.
