At the NYC Cannabis Parade & Rally 2019 in Union Square

The NYC Cannabis Parade and Rally — said to be New York's longest-running annual marijuana legalization event — returned to Union Square yesterday.

A few thousand people were estimated to attend the rally, part of the Global Marijuana March to promote, educate and advocate cannabis culture.

Speakers this year included New York City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, State Assemblyman Richard Gottfried and New York State Director of Drug Policy Alliance Kassandra Frederique.

EVG contributor Stacie Joy shared these photos from Union Square...

Because everyday reality is just too painful for the vast majority of the human population. Always has been. Always will be,

Reality is still a crutch! Better spend some more unnatural time with your screens and mind control eg "smart" phone.

I was a Pot Rally given by David Peel (and the Lower East Side) in Central Park. They threw bags of oregano out into the crowd!

It was a great day with worthwhile information being given out for FREE! Don't just be a "stoner" , actually get involved in the politics of the movement for equality & legalization. Let's help get our brothers & sisters out of incarceration!

I forsee the complete decriminalization and legalization of 420 in about ten years. Even though I am not a smoker of it, others should be able to have access to it without being arrested, which is patently absurd to begin with. I am not a fan of the lingering scent to be honest. I am also not a fan of drunk kids running loose on my street on Fridays and Saturdays either. What can you do? We can't control this. Alcohol, drugs and automatic assualt weapons cause more deaths than marijuana and yet they are still legal. If anything, this will be a huge boost to our economy. If we want to soar in the twenty first century, let's get on board and focus our attention to topics which truly matter such as the environment, saving endangered species, forming a comprehensive/affordable health care system, and electing someone in the white house who isn't mentally unstable and dangerous.
