Urine in trouble if you pee here?

Dave on 7th notes new signage on Seventh Street between Avenue A and Avenue B:

Any person urinating in public will be prosecuted

Area under surveillance

(Don't tell anyone, but it's a fake sign. Urinating in public is a misdemeanor. Per Administrative Code Section 16-118 — Public Urination are eligible to plead guilty and pay a $50 fine by mail. This program is available to persons charged with this petty offense only, and only if no other summonses are issued to the individual at the same time.)

I live on 7th and C. I've seen quite few men pull it out and urinate on the street. Some were drug addicts, homeless and others were drunk bros from bars nearby. I've never witnessed any police issue a summons or a ticket for anyone who does this. I wonder though if it will do any good honestly. Regardless, it is is crude and inconsiderate.

Dog piss, however, is totally OK.

Here's an idea: why not keep the bathrooms open in the park. Why do they even close? Is someone going to steal the filthy urinals? Even better, use some of the money paid to a dozen cops to guard a statue against graffiti, and build some more public bathrooms. This is the sort of public service government should be funding.

Please start a free-of-charge, indoor, toilet-training seminar (include wiping and flushing) for dogs. And make sure they receive certifications as well. THEN you can complain about dogs pissing in public. Thank you.

I've seen plenty getting ticketed throughout the years. Just not now, I guess.

I'm pretty sure pissing is no longer a ticketable offense. It might be on the books but DeBlasio no longer considers it a quality of life issue along with weed and fare beating. I'm seeing more human turds on the street as well.

In the world as I see it now, whoever put up the sign will be the one who gets most punished by the law.

The most common public urinator I see are car dudes in between rides. Most pee between cars or in bottles / empty their bottles on the street. Though I saw one guy peeing on the rear bumper of his running suv. That was novel.

I think there's more sewage on the streets because all the formerly-available public bathrooms (Starbucks, Kmart, McDonalds, etc.) are closed due to Covid. These people have no where else to go...

Where else are dogs supposed to piss? You just compare people drunkly peeing on the streets to dogs who’s only legit excuse to pee is outside? Get a clue
