Lucy remains missing

An East Village resident's apartment was burglarized late Saturday night. Upon his return home on Sunday afternoon, the person/people who did this left his window open... and both of his cats were gone. He found one in a courtyard... Lucy, pictured above, is still missing. (And she's not the same cat found the other night on Third Street and Avenue B.)

Lucy was last spotted in the schoolyard behind Fourth Street between First Avenue and Second Avenue.

Seriously, it's not bad enough this bastard has to break into someone's house and steal their stuff, but he has to let the cats escape, too? Lucy, I hope you are found and reunited with your loving peeps, and yes, that burglar needs to be whisked to The Hot Place very soon. Shameful.

Where was this burglary? Also, I saw a sign up in door of 156 E 2nd Street (Supper Restaurant Building) saying "cat lost in building", but no other details on the sign.

Just horrible. I would lose my mind if anything happened to my cats. Please Lucy, come home. What a pretty pretty little lady she is. Cats are very smart so I hope she finds her way back, or someone spots her and scoops her up and returns her ... is she chipped?

Also, please, everyone, have your little ones microchipped if they are not

This is such a nightmare scenario. I dread coming home to find that my pets aren't there...

:( Oh no. We all could use some happiness right now. Hope this little precious creature is found. I ll keep my eyes out...

I fervently hope Lucy will soon be back in her rightful home.

I can't imagine coming home to find that not only has your home been burglarized, but that your beloved pets were also missing.

Had this happen to me once. Found one cat right away, the other took about a week. Turns out she was hiding in a parking lot next door--probably the entire time. Hope this turns out similar.

I'm guessing no update on this little ladybug? :(

Have you checked all the gardens? Need help putting up flyers?

I think that's Walters cat and if so he's on east 5th.

It is Walter's cat, Eden... I don't think the 9th Precinct allowed him to check their parking lot, unfortunately

Sounds like the 9th. So helpful to the neighborhood they're tasked to serve. And don't get me started on how they no longer answer their phones.

Does the owner need anyone to help him search around the schoolyard or around 5th street? I let the folks at social tees know.

Gojira, don't press 0. Put in community affairs extension or DB. They'll get fed up and make the desk cop smarten up.

Ugh maybe I can go there and ask them if I can check for the cat. I have some friends in there who are cool with me. Officer Torres is a saint.

I keep checking back hoping to hear good news. I am a momma to a tiny, pretty girl cat just like Lucy, and my first kid, who lived to eighteen, was also a tiny little ladybug kitten. I love all god's creatures big and small, but the lost kittens pull on my heartstrings where I can't stop thinking about them even when I don't know them. Please, please, Lucy, get your fuzzy little butt home.
