Kati Roll Company now open on 2nd Avenue

The Kati Roll Company opened its doors yesterday for business at 128 Second Ave. near St. Mark's Place.

Here's a look at the menu... (thanks to Vinny & O for the photos)...

As Gothamist noted, the Kati crew will be offering free chicken and aloo rolls (while supplies last) tomorrow from noon to 2 p.m.

Oh great, a midtown style quick serve chain in place of iconic and longstanding Stage Restaurant. What was the point of that? Unreal.

UGLY-AS-SHIT restaurant serving OVER-PRICED CRAP

Yes, Stage is mightily missed but I've been traipsing over to Macdougal St for almost 10 years to get my Kati Roll fix. This is good eats and a sensible replacement for the small over-priced-rent space.

it's not their fault and good luck to them but I MISS THE STAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, 'Merica was ugly as shit. This place actually looks pretty nice.

"Over-priced crap"?? WTF? Presume you view McDonald's as quality-value. The average price is $5.50 an item and the two that I tried were pretty tasty. In a neighborhood where sandwiches and noodles are now going for $10-$15, I welcome a distinct non-burger, non-taco, non-slice joint that can hopefully pay the rent! Remember Little Piggy, Joe Dough and as of late Porchetta?

I went for a free Aloo roll today and it was fantastic.
I congratulated the owner on his new venture. The prices are low and the food is fresh.
I will definitely be back.

Here's the thing: we can cheap bites sold in sterile spaces by revolving door minimum wage workers, or we can have authentic community places that nourish our humanity as well as our bellys. The choice here was made by selfish wallstreeters who now own the building and care for their own wallet and not a whit for anyone else.
