There are multiple reader reports of a crime scene on Second Avenue at Seventh Street this evening. Several people have said that they've seen blood-soaked clothing on the sidewalk.
Will update when more information is available.

From a tipster:
"Some poor guy got stabbed in the neck."
The tipster said this happened on Second Avenue between St. Mark's Place and Seventh Street.
"Blood was everywhere. I didn't see the stabbing but walked by when he was on the stretcher Was so gross. The suspect fled wearing a green sweater."

The victim in the attack left several comments about the incident, which happened inside 129 Second Ave.:
I was stabbed twice in the neck and once in the back. My spine is fractured. All the positivity from total strangers is amazing and thank you for that. And btw I am not a crusty heroin addict. I don't do any drugs. I'm surprised it hasnt been easier to find pictures of the incident online. There were so many people hanging around taking videos/photos. The attack occured inside 129 in broad daylight and I have seen footage of the attackers. If anyone has any photos/videos during the event it would be a great help to the police and myself. There were two attackers one was on a black bike with a black jacket the other was in jeans, a green jacket, and black hat. After the attack they headed west on east 7th st. So far they are still on the streets.
And...
The police havent put out any information yet. There were two men. One was on a old black bycycle he was about 5' 9"-5'10", black ball cap, 'stocky build', african american, his face was more round, eyes slightly closer together than I would expect. I didnt notice any tattoos. Most of their bodies was covered. I hit him very hard on the left side of his face and he may have a cut or bruise near his ear or temple. The other guy was wearing a green jacket with a ball cap and jeans, he had a beard and bald head, he had darker skin than me. Could have been african american or maybe dominican, he was very large maybe 6'1"-6'3", muscular build. I have seen video of the attackers entering into the aparmtent building. Someone that lived in the apartment building actually let the men inside. I think he was trying to be friendly. That just shows if you dont know them or you havent seen them in your building dont let them threw the door.

It was nuts and i wonder if they caught the suspect because helicopters are above my place for hours. But that could be due to shooting in brooklyn.
When I went by an hour ago the cops said they were looking for a guy in a green bomber jacket. Another building which is closer to 8th st. was sealed off too and they even tried to stop the super from going inside. Lots of cop cars there, and half the block was sealed off. Hope the victim is Ok.
Post this story in NYU parents blog, kids are safer in the dorms not in our buildings.
re: the last anon -
NYU kids are annoying but its a joke to think this neighborhood is dangerous to them. These arent random crimes, as long as you arent involved in gang activity or other crime no one will be randomly stabbing you in the neck when youre walking around the EV.
Guy looked like he was stabbed in the neck. He has a shirt or towel on it and was holding it over the wound when the police came. The police acted swiftly and got the description of suspect and called it in.
Not sure where the stabbing happened but he was sitting on the corner of east 7th and 2nd avenue on the fence from the explosion that occurred 1.5 years ago.
Hope the young man is alright.
The crimes are not random but the people who hang out at that corner are crusty heroin addicts. I saw them last night half stoned on the east side of the street.
10:48 -- you don't know that. Do you not remember when there was that spate of random slashings and stabbings on the street and on the subways, about a year ago? Anything can happen to anyone at any time, you do not have to be "involved in gang activity or other crime", duh.
Did any surveillance videos film the attack or the attacker's escape?
I'm surprised no one saw which way the perpetrator went.
WTF? This is horrifying. I walk past this block on a daily basis. Was just there a couple of hours before it happened. Scary. Hope everyone is safe and the attacker is in jail.
this happened in broad daylight. Welcome back "ole bad days"
That's true
Did they find the attacker, or do we have another mad stabber on the loose? I didn't see any description of the perp posted anywhere so I hope they caught him.
Reading the hysterical comments here is funny: it's a mix of NYU KIDS ARE THE WORST vs It's like the 80's again. We live in a city people: shit happens. Don't use this random attack and attach it to your favorite point to bitch about. Talk about a bunch of crusties.
My name is Allan I was the one bleeding all over the sidewalk. I was stabbed twice in the neck and once in the back. My spine is fractured. It was a robbery from what I was told. He tried fighting them and got stabbed. He's a friend of a friend. He isn't a college student or druggy. He has just walking home from work.
Hi Koop--so sorry to hear about your injuries and hope you fully recover from them soon. Did the police put out any information on the attack? Can you provide any other description of the attackers? Was one of the guys on a black bicycle or black motorcycle?
The media was understandably too busy with the cop killing in the Bronx to cover this story, which is why there was no press, but unless someone puts out more info these predators will be out there until they attack again. This was a serious crime, and unfortunatley as we saw with all the slashers last year, the media usually doesn't put out enough information on these crimes until there are several victims.
NYC and the EV in particular have always shown a grittier side of life. The EV has been a "rough" neighborhood since the early 1800's. Those of us who have lived here for over 40 years have seen a lot "stuff" go down in these streets. But the students and younger crowd that come here to live forget that this is not the "party" town they thought it was from those few nights they may have had here drinking, eating and hooking up. The EV is a real neighborhood with all the problems of any area. Look behind you. Pay attention to who is in front of you and behind you. Don't allow yourself to get caught in a corner or cornered in a hallway. You might be better off outside than letting others follow you inside.
I am sure that I speak for the entire community when I say we wish you a speedy recovery from your injuries.
Thank you Giovanni. Thank you guys so much for the positivity. The police havent put out any information yet. There were two men. Allan..feel better soon..so sorry to hear about this..it is weird not much info was available with all the people taking pix..hmmm..nasty and bad..
Thank you "11:42". It is really surprising. There were tons of people standing around and I remember seeing a couple people taking pictures standing over by that Italian restaurant San Marzano. I hope that someone sees this blog post and can send me the photos or the police. The people that did this are likely in the area frequently. Anything could potentially be helpful. I am so lucky to be alive but these guys werent trying to beat me up they were trying to kill me. If they do it do someone else they may not be so lucky. No one should have to say goodbye to a lover, brother, friend, or son because these creeps are still out there.
Did you have the police make a sketch based on your description? It is amazing that this is not in the wider media...
Aren't there surveillance cameras facing the street around there? I would expect the police would have retrieved some video of the crime by now. They are always quick to contact property owners/managers in situations like this. If they make it available to EV Grieve, I'm sure plenty of people will be very willing to share it.
So sorry you were hurt, a speedy recovery in body, mind & spirit. I would like to print your replies from this blog and post it inside 129 2nd Ave - Words of truth will perhaps help neighbors learn not to allow people inside the building they do not know.
